Well, it's been a long time coming so I would like to talk about Lost Legends. Let me just say that I
freaking love this book. Like, this book itself is a love letter to all Gravity Falls fans. That's the best way I could describe Lost Legends. All four stories here are really on point to the series. And just like the series the story is well-written and the characters are great. With that being said, I wanna discuss my thoughts on the stories.
Warning: There may be spoilers...kinda.Face It: This is the story I was looking forward to the most. (gee...I wonder why?). In all seriousness, Oh has the Dipcifica ship been sailing like a Titanic, it makes Candip look like a drifting cardboard box. I'm sure any Dipcifica fan loved this story and for obvious reasons. This story further exemplifies my fondness for Dipper and Pacifica. They are so full of that snark and them having to put up with each other's attitude, it's just so interesting to watch. But at the end of the day there's that heartwarming moment between the two that would spark their relationship even further. (You know what I'm talking about
) Shipping aside, I am glad that Alex gave Pacifica more love. I really appreciate that. I love this story, it's cute, it's weird, it's...kinda creepy but a really entertaining story.
Comix Up: Hope you like 4th wall humor 'cause this story is chalk-full of 'em, especially since Lost Legends is a comic and they're damn sure aware of that. Anyways, anyone who's been a fans of comics, manga, Marvel/DC comics etc. would feel right at home here. What I like in this story is the many different art styles it has. As someone who wanted to create a comic, I was envious and with that I find myself relating to Grunkle Stan here. It also has some Stan and Soos bonding which is fine since Grunkle Stan is like a father to Soos. The story is really...goofy and like I said the 4th wall humor is everywhere but it's enjoyable.
Don't Dimension It: I hope this shuts up people who keep saying that Mabel is terrible and is so selfish and never gets called out and yadda, yadda, yadda...because in this story, Mabel actually acknowledged that she was selfish, she admitted she caused Wierdmaggedon, she apologized for her actions, and all it took was for her to put up with her alternate selves. If that's not enough then...I don't know what to tell you people. I never hated Mabel to begin with but the Mable hate was pretty harsh to listen to and I'll admit she did have problems. But after reading this story, I love Mabel a lot more now. Also the art style in this comic is probably my favorite of the bunch. I like "Face It" art style but there's something about this story's art that really attracted me. It's all so detailed. The story is so...Mabel, that's the best way I can describe it. And like Mabel, it's wacky and random yet entertaining.
Pines Bros. Mystery: This story feel...different but in a good way. Cause you know...it takes place in the past. Out of all the stories in Lost Legends, this one gave me the most emotions. It's nice that we get to see a glimpse of the Stanley and Stanford's childhood and going on their own adventures like Dipper and Mabel. I feel so sorry for young Stanley for having to put up with his hard-ass of a dad. But who cares because Ford is there for Stanley and it's sweet that he gave up his entire summer for him. Despite everything they went through, the last page feels like a true happy ending. Really great story with emotional moments and jokes that I can't believe made it past the censors.
Now if I were to say which one is my favorite, I would say either "Face It" or "Don't Dimension It". "Face It" because of the Dipper and Pacifica moments and "Don't Dimension" for giving Mabel development.
Anyway, I love Lost Legends. Easily worth the agonizing year long wait. If you want, feel free to share your thoughts on the comic.(that is, if you have Lost Legends...I don't know if the book is international or not.) Either way, seriously get this book if you are a Gravity Falls fan.
